プリミティブデザイン
確かにこの考え方自体は、素晴らしくデザインの世界で大きな影響を与え続けてきたことも事実である。
近年のカフェブームで日々増加し続けるカフェスペースやグラフィックにおいてもミニマルデザインが圧倒的に多いことは周知の通りである。この流れはしばらくは続くであろうし、なくなることはありえないと予測されるが、次にくるデザイントーンを発見する作業も必要ではないだろうか。
そこで私達は、次にくるポストデザインの位置付けとして「プリミティブデザイン」の回帰に着目している。
プリミティブ（プリミチブ）とは原始的なという意で、原始的造形や素朴な形、原色等に回帰し、そこに力強い生命力を求めようとする考え方である。では、力強い生命力とは何であろう。私たちのいう、力強い生命力とは人間をはじめとした動植物が本来持ち合わせる躍動的な力のことである。
太鼓の音で血が騒ぐことはないだろうか。恋愛をしている時のパワーを感じたことはないだろうか。
すばらしい造形物に出逢った時に感動と共にみなぎる力を感じたことはないだろうか。
このような生命の力を最大限に引き出すようなデザイン。それがプリミティブデザインである。
人が心を躍らせるような形状や色使い、素朴なマテリアルなど、ずっと昔から存在した形に心を馳せ、人の本能にダイレクトに伝えるデザイン。それが、プリミティブデザインである。
プリミティブデザインは地球の記憶（ジオグラフィ）に触れることができるデザインなのかもしれない。
Primitive Design
Minimal design is greatly popular now. It is a design in which the simplest and fewest elements are used to create the maximum effect. Certainly it is a great design philosophy and has continued to give great impacts on the design world. Recently numbers of new café open and many of those designs of the space and the graphic are based on minimalistic. This trend won’t fade away soon and it cannot be erased completely, but I believe it is also necessary to quest for a new design tone. In my opinion, I am expecting return of “primitive design.” Primitivism has a philosophy of simplifying the forms, colors and materials and by getting back to the basics, we can find the powerful vitality in them. Now what is the powerful vitality? It is the lively and dynamic power that animals and plants originally have. Have you ever be tingling with excitement when you hear beats of a drum? The power of love? The power that overwhelms when you see something inspiring and touching? That is primitive design. Those form, colors, plain materials, and designs that makes people excited and appeal directly to people’s instincts are primitive design. It might be able to even make you see and feel the memory of Earth.
